How has Veo 3 pricing changed?

Veo 3 pricing has fallen since launch: on September 8, 2025, Google cut Veo 3 from $0.75 to $0.40 per second and Veo 3 Fast from $0.40 to $0.15 per second, writing "Veo 3: Now $0.40 / second ; was $0.75 / second" (Google Developers Blog, checked October 13, 2026). In October 2026 the Veo 3.1 standard rate is still $0.40 per second at 720p or 1080p, Veo 3.1 Fast is down to $0.10 per second at 720p, and Google also lists Veo 3.1 Lite at $0.05 per second at 720p (Gemini API pricing, checked October 13, 2026). On AIVeed, a Veo3.1 Fast clip is 120 credits and a Veo3.1 Quality clip is 320 credits (AIVeed public pricing, checked October 13, 2026).

Is Veo 3 free or paid?

Veo 3 is paid on Google's developer platform: the Gemini API lists Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite as "Not available" on its free tier, so every Veo clip there is billed per second (Gemini API pricing, checked October 13, 2026). On AIVeed, every new account starts with 200 free credits (AIVeed pricing, checked October 13, 2026), which covers one 120-credit Veo3.1 Fast clip.

Can you buy Veo without a subscription?

Yes, Veo can be bought without a subscription. Google's Gemini API bills Veo 3.1 per second of video on a paid API project (Gemini API pricing, checked October 13, 2026). On AIVeed, Veo3.1 is paid from one-off credit packs — $5 for 600 credits, $19 for 3,000, $49 for 9,000 or $99 for 20,000 — and AIVeed credits never expire, so the same balance also works on Seedance, Kling 3.0 and Grok Imagine (AIVeed pricing, checked October 13, 2026).

What do you need to pay Google for Veo directly?

Paying Google for Veo directly takes a Gemini API project with paid billing and an API key, because Veo 3.1 is not on the free tier (Gemini API pricing, checked October 13, 2026). Billing alone does not always mean videos come back. On Google's AI developer forum on September 28, 2026, one developer wrote: "I have a Gemini API Paid Tier 1 / Prepay project with an active prepaid balance of approximately $9.99," with AI Studio showing "Veo Fast: 0/2 RPM, 0/10 RPD", yet both Veo 3.1 Fast and Lite returned "429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED" (Google AI Developers Forum, loaded October 13, 2026). Our guides to the Veo 3.1 429 error and the Veo 3.1 permission-denied error cover both problems. On AIVeed, Veo3.1 needs only an AIVeed account and credits (AIVeed Veo3.1 model page, checked October 13, 2026).

Are you charged for a Veo video that fails?

Google does not charge for a Veo video that fails to generate: the Gemini API pricing page says "You will only be charged if your video is successfully generated" (Gemini API pricing, checked October 13, 2026). AIVeed refunds videos that fail due to technical issues on its platform: "When our system cannot complete your video request, your credits are immediately restored to your account" (AIVeed pricing, checked October 13, 2026). Generations blocked by AIVeed's content policy are not refunded.

Methodology and verification

Verified on October 13, 2026. Google's Veo prices were read from the Gemini API pricing page and the Vertex AI generative AI pricing page; the price history is from Google's Developers Blog post of September 8, 2025. AIVeed's Veo3.1 credits were read from AIVeed's public pricing endpoint and match the AIVeed Veo3.1 model page, and AIVeed's public models endpoint lists audio as a feature of both Veo3.1 modes; pack prices come from AIVeed pricing.

Google clip prices are per-second rate × 8 seconds: Veo 3.1 at $0.40 × 8 = $3.20, Veo 3.1 Fast at $0.10 × 8 = $0.80, Veo 3.1 Lite at $0.05 × 8 = $0.40. AIVeed dollar figures are clip credits × pack price ÷ pack credits: on the Business pack $99 ÷ 20,000 = $0.00495 a credit, so 320 credits is $1.584, shown as $1.58, and 120 credits is $0.594, shown as $0.59; on the Popular pack $49 ÷ 9,000 = $0.00544, on the Starter pack $19 ÷ 3,000 = $0.00633, and on the Pilot pack $5 ÷ 600 = $0.00833 a credit. AIVeed's Veo3.1 modes produce clips of about 8 seconds and have no resolution option (AIVeed API documentation, checked October 13, 2026), so the comparison uses Google's 8-second, 720p rates, the lowest resolution Google lists for each tier. Dollar amounts allocate part of a purchased AIVeed pack to a clip; they are not a separate checkout price.
